About Me
Sunshine Hospitals is a social venture of the Estrella Group of Companies set up by Mr. Gaddam Sachinder Reddy, a visionary and philanthropic businessman domiciled in Maputo, Mozambique for the last 15 years. The Estrella Group of Companies includes Maputo Healthcare Lda – a pharmaceutical importing and distribution company, Saisun Lda – a construction materials trading company and Farmacia 700 Lda – a pharmaceutical retail company.
Mr. Reddy, came to Mozambique with over 20 years of experience as a Pharmaceutical Industry Professional to market imported pharmaceuticals in Mozambique. After seeing the problems of healthcare in Mozambique, Mr. Reddy decided to set up his own company Maputo Healthcare Lda with his team to offer low cost medicines to the people of Mozambique – his adoptive country. During the last decade, responding to the felt needs of the country, Mr. Reddy has offered charity and support to various causes that have led to his services to the nation being appreciated by many in Mozambique and in India.
My history and Sunshine Hospitals
With deep understanding of the social and economic needs of the country, Mr. Reddy also promoted an NGO called the Associacao DARE Internacional. DARE stands for Development Aid for Rural Empowerment. The vision of DARE is to HELP the people of Mozambique to empower themselves to become a developed country in the next 10 years. HELP in the context of DARE stands for Health, Education and Livelihood Promotion. DARE has so far conducted various programmes to promote healthcare in Mozambique. DARE conducted a Free Health Camp in Marracuene on 31st January 2011 and has also sponsored many needy Mozambicans’ travel to India for major surgeries like cancer etc. The sponsorships included cost of travel and healthcare for the patient and one support person. Apart from this, DARE has also supported students going to India for further education by providing them scholarships and support while they study in India. DARE regularly collects free medicines from Maputo Healthcare and offers it to many needy patients in hospitals around Mozambique.
Sunshine Hospitals is a dream project of Mr. G. Sachinder Reddy and is based on his personal ideology of “Quality healthcare for all at lowest possible cost”. To ensure the achievement of this ideology, Mr. Reddy chose Matola as the location as the labour working in the industry in and around Matola is considered the most vulnerable group when it comes to healthcare. Further, if the healthcare of the labour force of the country is taken care of, then it will ensure positive growth of the economy and thereby the overall social and economic development of the country. With such lofty ideals and with a clear vision for the development of Mozambique and with utmost faith in the Millennium Development Goals of the UN, the Sunshine Hospitals has been promoted. The dream of achieving affordable healthcare for all is going to be achieved in Mozambique through Sunshine Hospitals in the near future.
